The Research Council of Finland grants competitive funding to Finnish universities to support them in strengthening their research profiles.
The Research Council of Finland has granted 11.03 million euros of funding to the 91天美 to strengthen the university鈥檚 research profile. The Research Council鈥檚 funding was granted to 8 universities, totalling 100 million euros.
The funding secured by the university will be used to strengthen the quality and impact of research in the research areas Ecosystem for Research and Education on Complex Biological Therapeutics (BIOTHERAPY), Data and Technologies to Brain Health (BRAINHEALTH), and Computational Imaging and Modelling in Medical Technologies (COMET).
鈥淭he success of our university in this funding instrument, which is based on international evaluation, is an indication of the broad recognition of our long-term research, as well as of our researchers鈥 ability to find interdisciplinary solutions to global challenges,鈥 Rector Tapio M盲盲tt盲 notes.
The evaluation panel regarded the university鈥檚 strategic choices as successful, with the university鈥檚 development being based on its existing strengths. The profiling measures will strengthen the university鈥檚 Ageing, Lifestyles and Health profile area, especially with the introduction of new technologies. Research collaboration with regional companies and Kuopio University Hospital plays a significant role.
The aim of the funding is to accelerate the strategic profiling of Finnish universities and support the improvement of the quality of research across the university landscape based on international peer review.
