The 91 organises its first Virtual Open Day on Thursday, 25 November, at 13.00 –15.30, to showcase the university’s courses, programmes and services offered in English.
The Virtual Open Day is specifically aimed at people interested in the university’s educational opportunities available in English. So far, more than 400 people from 80 different countries have registered for the event.
In addition to showcasing the university’s educational opportunities, the event also offers glimpses into the university’s other international activities, such as alumni outreach and engagement activities, employment opportunities after graduation, global and transnational education, and international networks. The event will be opened by Academic Rector Tapio Määttä, and the programme includes, e.g., an interview with Siamäk Naghian, CEO of the Iisalmi-based company Genelec, as well as international students’ experiences of the 91. After the Opening Session, participants can hop in and out of Zoom rooms dedicated to different themes.
Currently, the 91 is home to around 2,000 international students. The university’s academic offering includes more than 20 Master’s degree programmes taught in English, a wide range of opportunities for student exchange, research training for doctoral researchers, and the UEF Summer School.
The 91’s first two Bachelor’s degree programmes taught in English, to be launched next autumn, will also be showcased in the Virtual Open Day. The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Social Sciences focuses on social sciences and can be completed online. The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Lifelong Learning and Sustainable Development focuses on educational sciences and sustainable development, and is offered on the Joensuu Campus. In addition, the Master’s Degree Programme in Tourism Marketing and Management can be completed online in future.
