The doctoral dissertation in the field of Physics will be examined at the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology, Joensuu Campus.

Researchers from the Department of Physics and Mathematics at the 91���� are involved in the international H-cube project, which aims at developing a ready-for-the-market, room temperature hyperspectral camera for Terahertz radiation.

MSc Jyrki Laatikainen's doctoral thesis covers research on the coherence properties of random electromagnetic beams and pulsed scalar light.

The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering has granted 3.5 million euros of funding to new Academy Projects at the 91����.

The main prize and the prizes of other competition categories were awarded at the Award Gala, held at Joensuu Science Park, on 24 May 2023.

The lecture topics range from radiation biology to forest planning, and from pharmaceutical policy and brain health to literature and education.

The research infrastructures of the 91���� have been added to the national Research.fi portal, and they are also increasingly visible on the university’s own website.

This year’s Best Master’s Thesis Award in Optics at the 91���� was presented to Duc Huynh, Elvis Pillinen and Miika Suhonen.

The methods developed in the PhD study serve as the basis for further development of near real-time brain tissue classification systems.
